Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) closed owing to shooting stones and heavy rains; Travellers advised to avoid journey

Jammu 18th August :- Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) has been closed for all traffic owing to several incidents of shooting stones caused by heavy rains on the road. The dangerous weather conditions have rendered the highway unsuitable for travel, prompting the authorities to stop all forms of vehicular movement until further notice.

Traffic authorities have issued a stern advisory to commuters asking them to postpone traveling until the weather improves and the road is free from wreckage. The relentless heavy downpours have resulted in instability in the mountainous region, leading to shooting stones at various key sections of the highway. The restoration process is likely to be initiated after the rains stop and the situation turns better.
