JAMMU/SRINAGAR, JANUARY 23, 2026 — The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) remains closed for all vehicular movement heading into January 24, 2026, following heavy snow accumulation and torrential rains across the sector.
According to the Traffic Police Headquarters, no vehicles will be allowed to ply from Nagrota (Jammu) towards Chenani, Patnitop, Ramban, or Srinagar, nor will any traffic be permitted from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards the Kashmir Valley. In light of the inclement weather warnings issued by the MeT Department, authorities have halted movement to ensure public safety.
Local commuters from Katra, Reasi, and Udhampur are advised to carry valid photo ID cards to facilitate restricted local travel. Travelers are strictly urged to verify road conditions through the Traffic Control Units (TCU) in Jammu, Ramban, or Srinagar before planning any movement, as the highway remains highly volatile due to ongoing weather conditions.
