Jammu-Srinagar Highway Remains Shut for Third Day after critical sections washed away in JK’s Udhampur

Udhampur 28 August :- The critical Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been closed to all type of traffic for a third consecutive day on Thursday following multiple landslides triggered by persistent heavy rains in the Udhampur-Ramban sector.

Officials confirmed that the 270-km all-weather road, which serves as the sole surface link connecting the Kashmir Valley to the rest of India, remains blocked at several locations between Jakheni and Chenani in Udhampur district due to substantial damage caused by the inclement weather.

A traffic police official issued a detailed advisory, stating, “The highway is closed for vehicular movement from Jakheni in Udhampur towards Srinagar due to damage at several places… No vehicular movement shall be allowed from Nagrota in Jammu towards Reasi, Chenani, Patnitop, Doda, Ramban, Banihal, or Srinagar.” To facilitate local movement amidst the restrictions, residents of Katra and Udhampur have been advised to carry photo identification to prove their residency and ensure smoother passage through checkpoints.Meanwhile man and Machine on Job to repair the damaged Road to make road single way for standard vehicles.
