Jammu-Srinagar Highway Closed: Key Routes Shut Due to Heavy Snow and Rain

JAMMU, J&K :- January 24, 2026:-The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), along with several other vital arterial links, remains closed to all vehicular movement this morning as relentless snowfall and heavy rains continue to lash the region.

According to an official update at 08:30 hrs, high-altitude passes and strategic routes including Mughal Road, Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) Road, and Sinthan Road are still blocked by a thick layer of fresh snow, making them hazardous for travel.

Authorities have strictly advised the public to refrain from undertaking any journeys on these specific stretches until the snow clearance operations are completed and the roads are officially declared safe for traffic.

In a move to prevent congestion and ensure safety, traffic movement has been halted from Jakheni (Udhampur) toward Srinagar and vice versa.

Furthermore, no vehicles are being allowed from Nagrota (Jammu) toward key hilly areas such as Patnitop, Doda, Ramban, and Banihal. Commuters are urged to ignore unverified reports and rely solely on official updates from the J&K Traffic Police social media handles or by contacting the dedicated Traffic Control Units (TCUs).
