JAMMU, January 14, 2026 — The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) has announced a further extension of winter vacations for all government and private schools in the Summer Zone of the Jammu division.
In an official order issued today, the directorate cited prevailing inclement weather conditions and the severe cold wave as the primary reasons for the extension, which now remains in effect until January 17, 2026.
This new directive follows a previous order that had initially extended the break until January 14.The order applies to both students and teaching staff across all recognized educational institutions in the region.
However, the DSEJ clarified that any scheduled Board Examinations for Classes 10 to 12 will proceed strictly according to their previously notified dates.
To minimize academic loss, the directorate has instructed schools to explore the possibility of conducting online classes for students from Class 6 onwards during this extended break.
Additionally, all preparations for the upcoming Republic Day 2026 celebrations must continue as planned per the schedules set by competent authorities.
