Jammu School Picnic Bus Accident: Over 25 Injured as Vehicle Overturns on Bishnah Ring Road

JAMMU, DECEMBER 20, 2025: A joyful school outing turned into a major emergency on Saturday when a picnic bus carrying students and staff skidded and overturned on the Ring Road near the Bishnah area of Jammu. The accident resulted in injuries to more than 25 people, including students, teachers, and support staff.

According to officials, the bus was en route to a picnic destination when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to roll down the embankment. Emergency services and local authorities rushed to the scene immediately, shifting the victims to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Bishnah, with several cases later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu for specialized treatment.Among those admitted to GMCH Jammu are several teachers, including Saveeta Manhas, Bandna Kumari, and Saroj Devi, alongside students as young as six years old.

The hospital administration has confirmed that all 14 patients currently under their care—including a cook and multiple students from the Pargwal area—are in stable condition.

Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal of GMC Jammu, stated that senior medical teams from the surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, and critical care departments are personally monitoring the victims to ensure they receive the best possible care.

While investigations into the cause of the accident have been initiated by the Bishnah Police Station, the community remains relieved that no fatalities have been reported thus far.
