Jammu Rural Police Apprehend Notorious Drug Peddlers in Gharota Heroin Seizure

JAMMU December 30 :- As part of an ongoing and intensified crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Jammu (Rural) Police achieved a significant breakthrough today by arresting two notorious drug peddlers in the Gharota area.

The operation took place around 11:00 AM when a specialized police team from the Gharota Police Station established a strategic checkpoint near the Thathi Petrol Pump. During the checking process, officers intercepted a motorcycle arriving from the Akhnoor side carrying two individuals who exhibited highly suspicious behavior.

Upon noticing the police presence, the duo attempted to evade capture and flee the scene, but they were quickly outmaneuvered and apprehended following a swift chase by the alert personnel on duty.

The suspects have been identified as Asgar Ali, alias Billu, and Naseem Ali, alias Kallu, both residents of the Bhalwal Tehsil in Jammu District. A thorough personal search of the individuals led to the recovery of 10 grams of a substance suspected to be heroin, commonly referred to as “chitta,” from their possession.

Following the seizure, the Gharota Police officially registered a case under FIR No. 114/2025, invoking Sections 8, 21, 22, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Authorities have confirmed that a deeper investigation is currently underway to trace the backward and forward linkages of the contraband, aiming to dismantle the broader drug supply network operating within the region.
