Jammu Police Year 2025 Review: Crime Rates Hit Five-Year Low Under Enhanced Policing

Jammu December 31, 2025 :- Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Joginder Singh, presented a comprehensive review of the 2025 district crime statistics today during a press conference at District Police Lines (DPL) Jammu.

Highlighting a year of significant operational success, the SSP noted that District Jammu recorded 4,134 FIRs, marking the lowest crime rate in the last five years. This achievement was paired with a record-breaking disposal of 5,122 cases, including nearly 2,000 backlog cases, signaling a major push toward judicial efficiency and proactive law enforcement.

The reduction in overall crime is attributed to a multifaceted strategy involving preventive detentions under the Public Safety Act (PSA) and PIT-NDPS, aggressive bail contesting, and the effective use of preliminary enquiries. Enhanced field presence through “Operation Sindoor” and dedicated deployments during flash-flood emergencies further bolstered public safety.

Police officials emphasized that the decline in registered cases reflects genuine crime prevention through deterrence rather than a decrease in reporting. In the fight against property crime, Jammu Police reported a 50 percent recovery rate, the highest in half a decade.

Out of approximately ₹20 crore worth of property reported stolen, specialized teams managed to recover ₹10 crore. This success was driven by targeted operations against burglary, vehicle theft, and cattle lifting. Simultaneously, the district maintained a zero-tolerance policy against organized crime, arresting 67 gangsters and recovering 49 illegal weapons, effectively dismantling several criminal networks across the region.

The “War Against Drugs” under Operation Sanjeevani saw substantial results in 2025, with 204 NDPS FIRs registered and 309 individuals arrested. Law enforcement successfully seized over 15 kilograms of heroin with an estimated international market value of ₹60 crore. Beyond arrests, the department utilized financial investigations to attach four properties and demolish 23 drug-linked illegal structures.

This administrative crackdown aimed to sever the financial lifelines of narcotic syndicates operating across inter-district borders.Security and counter-terrorism efforts remained a top priority, with the SSP confirming that there is currently no active terrorist presence in District Jammu.

To maintain this status, police conducted over 500 Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) and 1,000 Long Range Patrols (LRPs). The department also successfully transitioned into the era of modern forensics and digital evidence, with FSL visits increasing to 574 and the implementation of E-Sakshay cases jumping from 588 to nearly 10,000, ensuring high-quality evidence for the judicial process. The year also saw a significant focus on cyber security and community engagement.

Cyber crime units refunded over ₹5 crore to victims of financial fraud and recovered 746 mobile phones valued at ₹1.75 crore. Throughout the year, major public events including Republic Day, Independence Day, and various religious yatras were managed without any law and order incidents.

Looking toward 2026, Jammu Police reaffirmed their commitment to technology-driven policing and a zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism and organized crime.
