Jammu Police Seize 631 Vehicles in Massive 2025 Crackdown on Illegal Mining; Nearly ₹1 Crore in Fines Imposed

JAMMU, January 07, 2026:- In a decisive year-long offensive against the unlawful exploitation of natural resources, the Jammu Police intensified their enforcement measures throughout 2025, dealing a heavy blow to organized mining syndicates.

From January 1 to December 31, 2025, coordinated special drives were executed across all police stations and posts within the district. These operations resulted in the seizure of 631 vehicles involved in illegal mining activities.

Following the completion of statutory formalities, 572 of these vehicles were subsequently released, while the total fines levied against violators reached a staggering ₹99,85,327.The enforcement data highlights specific hotspots where police activity was most concentrated.

Police Station Satwari led the crackdown with 202 vehicle seizures, followed by PS Akhnoor with 73 seizures and PS Domana with 65. This targeted, intelligence-driven approach focused on the district’s most vulnerable mining zones to deter repeat offenders.

Beyond immediate penalties, the authorities have placed habitual violators under strict surveillance, with further legal proceedings initiated to ensure long-term compliance with environmental and mining laws.

SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh (JKPS), emphasized that illegal mining is not merely a regulatory breach but a serious threat that leads to environmental degradation, significant losses to public revenue, and the destruction of critical infrastructure.

Reaffirming a zero-tolerance policy, the SSP stated that the police remain committed to taking stringent action against all violators without exception. The success of the 2025 campaign underscores the Jammu Police’s unwavering dedication to upholding the rule of law and protecting the region’s natural heritage.
