Jammu Police Holds Border Area Public Outreach Meet at Allah Arnia
JAMMU, Jan 3: As part of an ongoing initiative to strengthen police-public synergy and grass-roots accountability, SP Headquarters Jammu, Irshad Hussain Rather, chaired a large-scale public interaction meeting today at the Border Police Post (BPP) Allah, within the jurisdiction of Arnia Police Station.
Attended by nearly 200 participants, including youth, village heads, and prominent citizens, the meeting served as a platform to discuss localized security challenges and the welfare of border residents. Local officers, including SHO Arnia Dilawar Kumar, briefed the gathering on recent measures taken to curb crime and ensure the safety of the general public in the sensitive border belt.
During the session, SP Irshad Hussain Rather emphasized the critical role of community cooperation in maintaining peace and public order. Detailed discussions were held regarding the growing menace of drug abuse and cybercrime, with the police urging parents to monitor their children’s activities closely.
The public was informed about the facilities available at the Police Drug De-addiction Centre in Channi, Jammu, for those seeking rehabilitation. Furthermore, traffic safety was highlighted, with strict advisories issued against minor driving, triple riding, and the importance of using helmets and seatbelts to prevent road casualties.
Given the proximity of the Arnia sector to the International Border, the police sensitized residents about modern security threats, specifically drone activities and cross-border tunnels. Participants were urged to remain extra vigilant and immediately report any suspicious persons, vehicles, or aerial movements to the nearest police unit.
The meeting concluded with the SP assuring the public that police-related grievances would be redressed on priority, while issues concerning the civil administration would be formally escalated to the relevant departments for speedy resolution.
