Jammu Police Detain Three Habitual Offenders to Prevent Breach of Peace near Bus Stand
JAMMU, March 03, 2026 — In a proactive measure to maintain public harmony, the District Police Jammu has detained three habitual offenders under preventive provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
On March 2, 2026, a police team led by Inspector Inderpal Singh apprehended the individuals within the jurisdiction of Police Station Bus Stand Jammu for engaging in activities that threatened public peace and tranquility.
The detainees have been identified as Afnan and his wife Saniya Shabier, both residents of Dalgate Srinagar, along with Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Majalta, Udhampur.According to official reports, the situation escalated during questioning when the accused created a disturbance that attracted a crowd and attempted to instigate others, causing panic in the area.
To prevent the commission of cognizable offenses and further unrest, the police arrested the trio under Sections 126, 170, and 129 of the BNSS. Following their arrest, the individuals were produced before the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Jammu, who issued formal detention orders.
All three offenders have since been lodged in District Jail Kot Bhalwal under judicial custody. The District Police Jammu has reiterated its commitment to upholding law and order, warning that strict action will persist against any anti-social elements disrupting the peace.
