JAMMU, January 19, 2026: In a targeted drive to eliminate illegal transport practices and protect commuters, the Jammu Police have booked two unauthorized travel agents operating at the BC Road Bus Stand.
The action, carried out during late-night hours, resulted in the arrest of one individual and the seizure of a vehicle used for soliciting passengers without legal authorization.
The operation was initiated on the night of January 18 at approximately 11:05 PM by a police party led by PSI Mohd. Haseeb Runyal, accompanied by flying squad officials. Under the direct supervision of Inspector Inderpal Singh, SHO Police Station Bus Stand, the team intercepted two individuals, identified as Gurvinder Singh and Parveen Kundal, who were loudly soliciting passengers for long-distance routes to Amritsar and Delhi.
Upon questioning, the duo failed to produce any valid travel agency licenses, office authorizations, or mandatory route permits.The police noted that such unauthorized activities create a public nuisance and compromise the safety of travelers.
While Gurvinder Singh was arrested on the spot and his vehicle seized, Parveen Kundal managed to flee the scene and remains at large. Consequently, FIR No. 08/2026 has been registered under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act.
Jammu Police have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a regulated and passenger-friendly transport environment, warning that strict action against illegal operators will continue unabated.
