Jammu Police Crackdown on Gambling: Six Arrested in RS Pura Raid; Cash and Cards Seized

JAMMU, March 9, 2026 — In a decisive move against illegal betting activities, the Jammu Police conducted a swift and well-coordinated operation in the RS Pura sector, resulting in the arrest of six individuals.

Acting on precise intelligence, a specialized police team raided a location in village Seer Balah on March 8, catching the suspects red-handed while they were engaged in illegal gambling.

The arrested persons have been identified as Ashok Kumar, Gurmeet Singh, Lekh Raj, Deep Singh, Bhopinder Singh, and Rashpal Singh, all residents of the RS Pura and Suchetgarh tehsils.

During the raid, officials seized ₹26,195 in cash along with two sets of playing cards. All six accused have been booked under Section 13 of the Gambling Act at Police Station RS Pura.

The successful operation was spearheaded by PSI Affan Nazir under the direct supervision of Inspector Tribhawan Khajuria (SHO RS Pura), with oversight from the SDPO RS Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu.

Police officials stated that the crackdown is part of a broader mission to eliminate social evils and maintain public order across the district.

Following the arrests, an investigation is currently underway to determine if the group has any wider links to organized gambling syndicates.

Jammu Police have reiterated their firm commitment to upholding the law, warning that strict legal consequences await anyone found participating in or facilitating unlawful activities within the region.
