Jammu Police Bust Organized Crime Nexus; Solve Telecom Theft and JPDCL Robbery Worth ₹1 Crore

JAMMU, January 20, 2026 — In a major breakthrough, the Jammu Police have dismantled a sophisticated criminal syndicate involved in high-profile thefts across the Jammu Division.

The operation led to the resolution of two significant cases: a major equipment theft from a GTL Infrastructure mobile tower and a violent armed robbery at the JPDCL Divisional Store in Nanak Nagar.

By utilizing advanced technical analysis and ground intelligence, a special police team led by PSI Maan Singh and PSI Nadeem Akram, under the supervision of SP City South Dr. Ajay Sharma, successfully apprehended six individuals and one juvenile.

The arrested suspects, identified as Saddam Hussain Zargar, Jahangir Ahmed Butt, Sofian (alias Thapa Pehalwan), Shabaz Hussain, Freed Ali, and Abdul Lateef, were found to be part of an organized network operating across the district.

The recovery following the arrests is valued at over ₹1 crore, dealing a substantial blow to organized crime in the region. Seized items include specialized telecom equipment such as 11 Base Band units and 3 RUS units worth approximately ₹70 lakh, along with a massive cache of electrical materials including conductors, control cables, and pin insulators.

Additionally, the police seized three vehicles—an Alto, a Swift, and a Mahindra pickup—used in the commission of these crimes, as well as the sharp-edged weapons used during the JPDCL robbery.

This successful operation not only restores vital infrastructure components to the telecom and power sectors but also reinforces the commitment of the Jammu Police to maintaining law and order against well-coordinated criminal elements.
