Jammu Police Bust Gambling Racket in R.S. Pura; Six Arrested During Chohala Raid

JAMMU, January 05, 2026: In a continued effort to eradicate social evils and illegal activities, the Jammu Police successfully dismantled a gambling racket in the R.S. Pura area today.

Acting on specific and reliable intelligence gathered during routine patrolling, a specialized police team conducted a surprise raid at a location near Peer Baba in the Chohala area. The operation resulted in the apprehension of six individuals caught red-handed while engaging in illegal betting activities.

The apprehended individuals have been identified as Kamaljeet Singh, Suresh Kumar, Amandeep, Surjeet Kumar, Sunny Kumar, and Balvinder Kumar, all of whom are residents of Chohala in the R.S. Pura Tehsil. During the targeted raid, law enforcement officials recovered stake money totaling ₹5,960 along with decks of playing cards used for the illegal activity.

The swift action by the police disrupted the illicit gathering before it could move to another location.Following the arrests, the police officially booked all six accused under Section 13 of the Gambling Act.

The successful operation was spearheaded by a dedicated team from the R.S. Pura Police Station, functioning under the direct supervision of Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar, the Station House Officer (SHO).

Authorities have confirmed that further legal proceedings and investigations are currently underway to determine if these individuals are part of a larger organized gambling network.The Jammu Police have reiterated their unwavering commitment to maintaining public order and safety.

A police spokesperson warned that the department will continue its sustained drive against gambling, narcotics, and other unlawful acts that disturb the social fabric of the region. Citizens are encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious or illegal activities in their neighborhoods.
