Jammu Police Apprehend Drug Peddler with Heroin in Bakshi Nagar Crackdown

JAMMU, Feb 14, 2026 — In a continued effort to eradicate the drug menace from the region, a police patrolling party from Police Post GMC Jammu successfully apprehended a suspected drug peddler in the Resham Ghar Colony area near the Super Specialty Hospital.

During the operation led by PSI Hardev Singh, the accused, identified as Sonu Kumar, a resident of Mazdoor Basti, Bakshi Nagar, was found in possession of approximately 8 grams of a heroin-like substance concealed in his clothing. Following the recovery, an FIR has been registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act.

To completely dismantle the local narcotics ecosystem, a specialized joint team is now conducting a thorough investigation into the backward and forward linkages of the trade, including a detailed financial probe under the supervision of senior police officials.

The Jammu Police have reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the youth from the influence of drug mafias and have urged the public to share information regarding illegal activities, promising that the identity of informants will remain strictly confidential.
