JAMMU, DECEMBER 20: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level review meeting today at Lok Bhavan, Jammu, to assess the operational progress and budgetary requirements of various subordinate wings of the Home Department. Attended by top officials, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and Director General of Police (Prisons) Deepak Kumar, the session focused on the financial positioning and expenditure for the 2025-26 budget across critical sectors such as Prisons, Prosecution, Home Guards, SDRF, and the Forensic Sciences Laboratory (FSL).
The Lieutenant Governor emphasized the need for a strengthened security framework and directed officials to ensure that administrative goals are met through seamless inter-departmental coordination.
During the comprehensive review, the Lieutenant Governor specifically tracked the progress of vital infrastructure projects, including the construction of the High Security Prison at Mahanpur in Kathua and the ongoing development of bunkers in the border districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Significant attention was also given to technological advancements, such as the establishment of a new Cyber Division at FSL Jammu and the upgradation of existing facilities at FSL Srinagar to better combat digital crimes. Concluding the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor issued strict instructions for the sensitization of prison staff and mandated more frequent surveillance and security audits of correctional facilities across the Union Territory to maintain high standards of institutional safety.
