Jammu & Kashmir Chief Secretary Reviews ‘Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan’ to Strengthen Anti-Drug Campaign

JAMMU, February 13, 2026 — Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo today conducted a comprehensive review of the “Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan,” a massive outreach initiative spearheaded by the Information Department to eradicate substance abuse across the Union Territory.

Highlighting the campaign’s significant grassroots impact, officials reported that over 9,000 awareness events have already mobilized upwards of 4.5 lakh participants across Panchayats, Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), and educational institutions.

During the high-level meeting, which included top officials from Home, Health, and Social Welfare departments, the Chief Secretary emphasized the integration of the Nasha Mukt J&K portal with the National Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) platform to enhance monitoring, data sharing, and public visibility.

To ensure the sustainability of the movement, the Chief Secretary directed the Health Department and IMHANS Srinagar to design certified professional courses in de-addiction and counseling, aiming to build a robust, trained human resource base.

He underscored the importance of mapping these certified counselors directly to local institutions on the digital portal for easy public access. Furthermore, the drive has seen intensified enforcement, including joint police inspections of pharmacies and crackdowns on illicit cultivation.

With 218 individuals successfully rehabilitated and nearly 2 lakh participants engaged via digital outreach, the government remains committed to a technology-driven, inter-departmental strategy to transform Jammu & Kashmir into a drug-free region.
