Jammu Infrastructure Milestone: Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary Inaugurates Reconstructed Bus Stand Bridge in Record Time

JAMMU, April 04, 2026 — In a major boost to regional connectivity, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary today officially inaugurated a vital single-span Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) bridge and its allied works at the General Bus Stand, Jammu.

Accompanied by local MLA Yudhvir Sethi, the Deputy Chief Minister described the structure as a “lifeline” for the Union Territory, highlighting its critical role in facilitating transport and livelihoods across the Jammu, Kashmir, and Chenab Valley regions.

The original bridge had been devastated by flash floods just a few months ago, and its reconstruction was prioritized by the administration to restore the primary transit artery for thousands of daily commuters and commercial transporters.

During the inauguration ceremony, which was attended by members of transport and market associations, Deputy CM Choudhary emphasized that the project was completed in record time to alleviate the sense of helplessness felt by local stakeholders following the natural disaster.

He reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to robust infrastructure development and public welfare, stating that despite significant logistical challenges, the administration remains focused on delivering on its promises.

The Deputy Chief Minister also took the opportunity to acknowledge the persistent efforts of MLA Yudhvir Sethi in monitoring the project’s progress and ensuring that technical standards were met without further delays.

Beyond the bridge opening, the Deputy Chief Minister engaged with local stakeholders to address broader operational challenges at the bus stand, including chronic parking issues and traffic regulation. He assured the gathering that these concerns would be addressed promptly through a coordinated departmental approach.

MLA Yudhvir Sethi and representatives from various associations expressed their gratitude to the Deputy CM and the concerned engineering departments for the time-bound execution of the ambitious project.

This successful restoration marks a significant step in the government’s ongoing efforts to build a resilient and highly mobile infrastructure network throughout Jammu and Kashmir.
