JAMMU, March 06, 2026 — The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), J&K Regional Office, today launched the “Grameen Bharat Mahotsav – A Rural Fest for Agriculture, Looms & Crafts” at Bahu Plaza, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
The three-day event, inaugurated by Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Finance, Shailendra Kumar, features a diverse range of stalls from Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Off-Farm Producer Organizations (OFPOs), and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from across India, including participants from Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Gujarat.
Visitors can explore unique products ranging from GI-tagged handicrafts and handlooms to value-added millets and regional specialties like Kani and Sozini Pashmina shawls, saffron, and Mushkbudji rice.
Beyond commerce, the festival serves as a platform for rural entrepreneurship and financial literacy, highlighted by a Nukkad Natak on digital safety and discussions on the RBI’s new Grameen Credit Score intended to improve formal credit access for rural borrowers.
Officials emphasized that this Mahotsav provides a vital link between primary producers and retail buyers, ensuring better price realization and fostering a sustainable rural economy.
