Jammu Grapples with Communication Blackout, Union Minister Assures Restoration on Priority
Jammu 27 August :- Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh has addressed growing nationwide concerns over a severe telecom network disruption in the Jammu division, which has left people across India unable to contact their families in the region.
In a series of posts on social media platform X, the Minister, who is also from the Jammu region, stated that he has been inundated with calls and messages from worried individuals who found even the official helpline numbers to be unreachable.
In response, Dr. Singh revealed that he has suggested Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, to prioritize the restoration of public helplines on a war footing. The Commissioner has assured that an attempt will be made to establish at least one viable communication channel within the next hour to facilitate the relay of messages.Providing a glimmer of hope, the Minister noted that many individual mobile connections have already started getting restored since around 4 pm today.
On the power front, he reported that nearly 40% of the electricity supply has been restored. However, he cautioned against haste in a full-scale restoration due to waterlogging across the area, which presents an imminent risk of short circuits.
Dr. Jitendra Singh concluded with an appeal to the public to remain patient, prioritize their safety, and be reassured that every administrative functionary is actively working to resolve the situation.
