Jammu Dominates State Softball Championship; Divisional Commissioner Praises Grassroots Sports Growth​

JAMMU, April 1, 2026 — The Jammu and Kashmir Softball Championship 2025–26 concluded today at the GGM Science College Ground, marking the successful end of a high-energy competition that drew nearly 400 athletes from across the Union Territory.

Organized by the J&K Sports Council, the event featured intense matches in Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior categories, showcasing the rising talent pool in regional softball. Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, attending as the chief guest, lauded the J&K Sports Council and the Department of Youth Services and Sports for their relentless efforts in strengthening the local sports ecosystem.

He emphasized that the government remains committed to providing superior infrastructure and coaching to channel the energy of the youth into constructive and healthy activities.​

In the final standings, Jammu asserted its dominance by clinching gold in the Sub-Junior and Junior Girls categories, as well as the Senior Men’s division. Srinagar also delivered a powerhouse performance, securing top honors in both the Sub-Junior and Junior Boys categories. Other notable performances included Pulwama’s victory in the Senior Girls category and strong podium finishes from districts including Budgam, Kulgam, Samba, and Udhampur.

The championship was held under the aegis of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, effectively using the platform to spread the vital message of “Say no to drugs and yes to sports.” The event wrapped up with a vibrant medal ceremony, celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship and the flourishing athletic culture in Jammu and Kashmir.
