JAMMU, FEB 8, 2026 — In a landmark success for the newly established Cyber Investigation and Coastal Security (CICE) unit, the Jammu Crime Branch successfully recovered and secured ₹39,90,482 belonging to a retired Air Force officer who fell victim to a sophisticated “Digital Arrest” scam.
The victim, who had been held under psychological duress by fraudsters for nine days, reported a total loss of ₹52.90 lakh on February 6. Responding with exceptional speed, a specialized team led by DySP Albeena Malik and Inspector Pradeep Singh, under the supervision of SSP CICE J&K, initiated the first-ever operational use of the recently issued Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for financial investigations.
Within just three hours, the team traced the money trail to a suspected bank account in Jodhpur and subsequent linked layers, successfully marking liens and freezing the funds. The recovered amount is set to be remitted to the complainant following court formalities, marking a significant victory against cybercrime and demonstrating the high effectiveness of the J&K Police’s modernized digital investigation protocols.
