Jammu Crime Branch EOW Registers 11 FIRs in Massive Fraud and Impersonation Crackdown

JAMMU, January 08, 2026: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Jammu Crime Branch has launched a major legal offensive against corruption and deceit by registering 11 separate FIRs involving widespread fraud, impersonation, and misuse of official authority.

Following a series of meticulous investigations into written complaints, the EOW identified a diverse range of criminal activities that have caused significant losses to the government exchequer and private individuals.

The cases encompass serious charges including the forgery of revenue records, the irregular issuance of Permanent Resident Certificates (PRCs) in the Doda district, and high-stakes bank loan scams perpetrated through falsified KYC documents.

Officials revealed that many of the accused exploited innocent victims by promising government jobs through fake appointment letters and using forged educational certificates to secure illegal employment.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch EOW Jammu, Mohd Fiesel Qureshi (JKPS), stated that the investigations exposed a deep-seated network of criminal conspiracy involving both private individuals and public servants who abused their official positions for personal financial gain.

The registered cases also highlight alarming instances of visa fraud, illegal diversion of PMEGP loan funds, and the manipulation of service records to secure compassionate appointments under SRO-43.

In several instances, the perpetrators reportedly resorted to threatening complainants to conceal their illicit activities.

Reaffirming the department’s commitment to upholding public trust, SSP Qureshi urged citizens to remain vigilant against such deceptive schemes and to promptly report any economic offences to the Crime Branch to ensure the accountability of those undermining the legal and financial systems of the Union Territory.
