Jammu and Kashmir Weather Update: Reasi and Udhampur Record Highest Rainfall as Heavy Snowfall Blankets the Valley
Srinagar, January 23, 2026: Jammu and Kashmir experienced a massive surge in precipitation over the last 24 hours, effectively ending the regional dry spell with record-breaking intensity.
Data compiled at 8:30 a.m. today reveals that the Jammu region received the heaviest rainfall, with Reasi recording a peak of 83.0 mm, followed closely by Katra at 79.4 mm and Udhampur at 76.8 mm.
In the Kashmir Valley, the weather took a more wintry turn as heavy snowfall lashed the higher altitudes and rain drenched the plains.
Gulmarg led the valley’s figures with a significant 53.8 mm of precipitation and 46.0 cm of fresh snow, while Kupwara and Pahalgam also reported substantial accumulations of 27.0 cm and 18.0 cm respectively.
Central areas like Srinagar and its surrounding airport recorded between 37.0 mm and 47.6 mm of rain, contributing to local logistics challenges but providing much-needed relief to the parched landscape.
