J&K Government Confirms Most Tourism Assets in Reasi are Fully Functional; Restoration for Bhambla TRC Planned

JAMMU, February 13, 2026 The Jammu and Kashmir government has officially clarified the status of tourism infrastructure in the Reasi district, noting that the vast majority of its assets are active and serving the public. Speaking in the Legislative Assembly on behalf of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Minister for Rural Development Javid Ahmad Dar informed the House that the Tourism Department currently administers 14 distinct properties across the district. Of these, 13 are in good physical condition and are being utilized effectively to promote regional tourism and provide public services. This statement came as a response to an inquiry raised by Legislator Baldev Raj Sharma regarding the upkeep and operational status of state-owned tourism facilities.

The Minister addressed specific concerns regarding the Tourist Cafeteria at Bhambla (TRC Bhambla), identifying it as the only property among the 14 that is currently idle. He explained that the facility’s inactivity is not due to administrative negligence or a specific official’s oversight, but rather the result of its poor physical state, which necessitates extensive structural repairs and renovation. Because the building is currently unfit for productive use, the government has prioritized its restoration in the upcoming budget. Minister Dar assured the House that the renovation of the Bhambla asset is slated for the next financial year, contingent upon technical permissibility and fund allocation.

Reiterating the government’s broader vision for the region, the Minister emphasized a steadfast commitment to strengthening tourism infrastructure throughout Reasi. By maintaining 13 of the 14 assets in peak operational condition, the department aims to ensure that the district remains a viable and attractive destination for visitors. The Minister concluded by reaffirming that the administration is focused on the optimal utilization of all state assets, ensuring that every facility contributes to the local economy and the overall enhancement of the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
