ITBP Establishes New Operating Base in Naxal-Hit Abujhmad to Boost Security and Community Outreach
NARAYANPUR, CHHATTISGARH — March 11, 2026: In a significant move to strengthen security infrastructure in one of India’s most challenging terrains, the 29th Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has successfully established a new Company Operating Base (COB) in a remote location within the Abujhmad region of Narayanpur district.
This strategic expansion into the high-risk, Naxal-affected belt is designed to provide a critical vantage point for the “Himveers” to intensify anti-Naxal operations and reclaim territory from insurgent influence. Beyond tactical advantages, the new base serves as a vital bridge for civil-military relations; it is intended to foster better communication, build lasting trust, and encourage proactive cooperation with local villagers who have long been isolated from essential services.
By maintaining a permanent presence in this remote frontier, the ITBP aims to ensure a more secure environment that paves the way for both regional stability and grassroots development.
