New Delhi, December 18, 2025 — Indian Railways has showcased a significant boost in operational efficiency, achieving an 80% overall punctuality rate across its national network during the week of December 8–14. This performance highlight underscores a period of intensified focus on timely passenger and freight services. Data reveals that 37 railway divisions managed to cross the 80% mark, while 22 divisions delivered exceptional results by surpassing 90% punctuality, ensuring a smoother travel experience for millions of commuters during the winter peak.
Among the top-tier performers, the Ratlam Division (Western Railway) emerged as the national leader with a nearly perfect punctuality record of 98.5%. Following closely were the Tiruchchirappalli Division and Madurai Division of Southern Railway, which recorded 97.5% and 96.7% respectively. In total, 10 divisions managed to exceed the 95% threshold, demonstrating that regional precision is driving the overall improvement in the national average.
These enhancements in schedule adherence are the result of strategic infrastructure maintenance and streamlined traffic management.
