Indian Coast Guard Director General Leads High-Level Delegation to 20th ReCAAP Governing Council Meeting in Singapore

SINGAPORE — March 11, 2026: Strengthening India’s strategic footprint in regional maritime safety, a high-level four-member delegation led by Director General Paramesh Sivamani, AVSM, PTM, TM, is currently attending the 20th Governing Council Meeting of the ReCAAP Information Sharing Centre (ISC) in Singapore.

As the Indian Governor to the ReCAAP ISC, the Director General reaffirmed India’s steadfast commitment to enhancing international cooperation aimed at eradicating piracy and armed robbery against vessels across Asian waters. These high-level deliberations are central to India’s broader “SAGAR” (Security and Growth for All in the Region) initiative, ensuring that the Indo-Pacific remains a zone of stable and secure maritime commerce.

On the sidelines of the summit, DG Paramesh Sivamani engaged in critical bilateral discussions with Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan, Commandant of the Philippine Coast Guard and current Chairperson of ReCAAP, as well as Vijay D. Chafekar, Executive Director of the ReCAAP ISC. The meetings focused on analyzing evolving piracy trends and emerging security threats in the Indo-Pacific region.

By pledging unwavering support to the ReCAAP framework, India continues to play a pivotal role in fostering information sharing and operational synergy among member nations, ultimately working toward the shared goal of maintaining safer seas and more secure coastlines for global trade.
