Indian Coast Guard Boosts Maritime Security as HAL Delivers First Batch of ALH Mk-III Helicopters

*BENGALURU April 11, 2026 :-In a major boost to India’s maritime surveillance and coastal defense, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) officially handed over the first batch of four Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) Mk-III (MR) to the Indian Coast Guard in Bengaluru on April 10, 2026.

This delivery is part of an ongoing contract for nine specialized ALH Mk-III units designed to enhance the force’s long-range maritime reconnaissance capabilities.

The ceremony was attended by DIG Rajesh Makwana, Chief Staff Officer (Aviation) of the Coast Guard Western Seaboard, who served as the Chief Guest and emphasized the importance of these state-of-the-art assets in securing India’s vast coastline.

The newly inducted helicopters are equipped with high-performance Shakti engines and feature a modern full glass cockpit for improved pilot situational awareness.

To meet the demanding requirements of maritime operations, the aircraft are outfitted with advanced radar systems and precision sensors, making them ideal for search and rescue missions and persistent surveillance in diverse weather conditions.

This induction represents a significant milestone in the Indian Coast Guard’s operational readiness and aligns with the national vision of self-reliance in defense manufacturing, ensuring that India’s maritime interests are protected by cutting-edge, indigenous technology.
