Indian Army’s Spear Corps and Assam Rifles Lead Multi-State International Women’s Day Celebrations Across Northeast India

KOHIMA, NAGALAND – March 11, 2026: In a powerful tribute to female empowerment and community spirit, the Spear Corps, alongside the Assam Rifles, Spearhead Gunners, and the Red Shield Division, conducted a week-long series of events across Northeast India to commemorate International Women’s Day.

The celebrations kicked off with high energy in Radhanagar, Tripura, where a 5-kilometer mini-marathon was organized to promote fitness and solidarity among local women. Simultaneously, a life-saving blood donation drive was held in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, underscoring the vital role women play in humanitarian efforts.

These initiatives reflect the military’s ongoing commitment to fostering a culture of health and social responsibility across the frontier states.The commemorative activities extended deep into Nagaland, focusing on both economic empowerment and holistic well-being.

At the Zakhama Textile Unit, officials engaged in a meaningful interaction with local female artisans to discuss sustainable livelihoods, while in Peren, a dedicated “Women’s Day Celebration Week” event brought together diverse groups to honor local achievers.

The week concluded on a high note in Ghaspani with a specialized lecture on women’s health and wellness, followed by a family picnic designed to strengthen community bonds.

Through these multifaceted programs, the Indian Security Forces have not only celebrated the strength of women but also reinforced their bond with the civilian population across the Northeastern region.
