Indian Army’s 6 Sector Rashtriya Rifles Celebrates Pir Panjal’s Cultural Heritage at GDC Surankote Literary Festival

POONCH (February 14, 2026): In a powerful display of national integration and communal harmony, the Indian Army’s 6 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, under the aegis of the Romeo Force, hosted a grand Literary Festival at Government Degree College (GDC) Surankote today. Part of the ongoing Pir Panjal Winter Festival, the event served as a testament to the resilience of a region that has historically overcome significant challenges, including Operation Sindoor.

Led by Commander 6 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, Brigadier H. S. Dhillon, the festival was attended by prominent figures including DDC Mandi Chairperson Tazeem Akhter and Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma, alongside academic leaders like Prof. Rani Mughal and Prof. Jasbir Singh.

The auditorium resonated with soulful Urdu poetry as eminent literary figures from across the Pir Panjal region, including Prof. Fateh Mohd Abbasi and Gursharan Singh Gulshan, took to the stage. Their renditions focused on themes of national unity, cultural traditions, and the scenic beauty of the highlands, captivating an audience of students, faculty, and prominent citizens. This cultural initiative by the Indian Army aims to strengthen the bond between the armed forces and the local community while providing a platform for regional talent.

The festivities are set to reach a crescendo on February 16 with a Mega Musical Concert in Surankote, featuring both local and national artists to celebrate the region’s enduring spirit of unity.
