Indian Army’s 107 TA Battalion Prevents Major Fire Outbreak at Jalapahar Cantonment in Darjeeling

DARJEELING | February 19, 2026 — Demonstrating exceptional agility and disaster response capabilities, the troops of the 107 Infantry Battalion (TA), 11 GORKHA RIFLES, successfully contained a massive fire that broke out at the Jalapahar Cantonment in Darjeeling, West Bengal.

The blaze, which spanned a critical 100-meter stretch, posed a severe threat to the region’s dense forest cover and vital military infrastructure. Responding with immediate tactical precision, the Army personnel initiated swift evacuation procedures and deployed localized firefighting measures to halt the fire’s spread, effectively preventing a large-scale environmental escalation.

The situation was later fully stabilized with the arrival of the local fire brigade, whose collaborative efforts with the Gorkha Rifles ensured the complete protection of the cantonment and surrounding civilian areas from further damage.
