MAIBANG, February 5, 2026 — Demonstrating their commitment as the “Sentinels of the Northeast,” the Assam Rifles launched a rapid humanitarian relief operation in Subhash Nagar, Maibang Town, following a catastrophic fire that broke out on February 3.
The blaze tore through the residential area, destroying homes and leaving nine families displaced and without basic necessities. In the immediate aftermath, Assam Rifles personnel coordinated with the Help Society NGO to reach the site and provide a critical lifeline to those rendered homeless by the disaster.
The relief efforts focused on stabilizing the affected families by distributing essential survival materials, including food rations and heavy blankets to combat the local weather conditions.
This swift intervention was designed to alleviate the immediate trauma and physical hardship faced by the victims. Local residents and the displaced families expressed deep appreciation for the Force’s selfless service, noting that the timely arrival of the Assam Rifles provided much-needed security and hope during a moment of crisis.
