SECUNDERABAD, TELANGANA — January 24, 2026:- In a significant address at the College of Defence Management (CDM), Lieutenant General V Hariharan, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the elite Strike One Corps, outlined the future of India’s heavy combat formations.
Speaking to participants of the Higher Defence Management Course (HDMC-21), the General focused on the critical evolution of “Offensive Options of Strike Corps,” emphasizing that the era of traditional warfare is being replaced by highly integrated, multi-domain operations.
The General Officer provided deep strategic insights into the evolving contours of strike operations, specifically advocating for a shift toward precision strike capabilities and seamless joint synergy. He underscored that for a Strike Corps to remain effective in modern conflict, there must be a total integration of planning across all arms—infantry, armor, and artillery—ensuring that every move is synchronized for maximum impact.
By focusing on jointness, the General suggested that the Indian Army can achieve a “force multiplier” effect, delivering decisive blows with greater speed and accuracy.A core theme of the discourse was the urgent necessity for technology infusion. Lt Gen Hariharan highlighted that operational effectiveness in the 21st century is tied to a force’s adaptability and agility.
He called for the rapid adoption of emerging technologies—ranging from advanced surveillance systems to automated strike platforms—to ensure that Strike One remains a dominant deterrent.
