Indian Army Joins Bihar State Earthquake Drill: HQ J&B Sub Area Enhances Disaster Readiness

DANAPUR, February 27, 2026 — Under the guiding principle of being “Swift to Respond, Trained to Protect,” the HQ J&B Sub Area, Danapur, successfully participated in a comprehensive State Level Earthquake Mock Exercise.

Conducted in close coordination with the Bihar State Disaster Management Agency (BSDMA), the District Administration, NDRF, and SDRF, this high-intensity drill was designed to test the region’s resilience and tactical response to a major seismic event.

The exercise underscored the vital role of the military in supporting civil authorities during large-scale natural disasters.The Army’s contribution was substantial, featuring seven specialized response teams from the Bihar Regimental Centre, alongside dedicated medical units from Military Hospital Danapur and Military Hospital Gaya. The training kicked off with a Table Top Exercise (TTX) to align strategy, followed by a full-scale integrated Mock Drill.

These maneuvers rigorously validated critical life-saving protocols, including inter-agency communication, rapid deployment, advanced casualty evacuation (CASEVAC), and complex disaster mitigation strategies in a simulated high-stress environment.

This proactive participation reinforces the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR). By refining the synergy between military personnel and civilian emergency services, the exercise ensures that should a real-world crisis strike, the collective response will be swift, organized, and effective.

Such drills are essential for minimizing loss of life and streamlining recovery efforts, proving that the armed forces remain a bedrock of national safety both in conflict and in natural calamity.
