Indian Army, ITBP, and SSB Hold Joint Communication Exercise in High-Altitude East Sikkim

GANGTOK, March 18, 2026 — In a strategic move to bolster border security and disaster preparedness, the Indian Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) recently concluded a comprehensive Joint Communication Exercise in the rugged high-altitude regions of East Sikkim.

This collaborative drill was specifically designed to bridge operational gaps between the different security forces stationed along the Himalayas.

By focusing on the seamless integration of signal networks and the sharing of tactical best practices, the participating units successfully tested their ability to maintain reliable contact despite the thinning atmosphere and punishing terrain that often disrupt standard electronic transmissions.Beyond the military implications, the exercise carries significant weight for the local population.

By hardening communication infrastructure and streamlining inter-agency coordination, the forces are now better equipped to execute rapid-response missions during natural disasters or medical emergencies.

The initiative underscores a unified commitment to regional stability, ensuring that both the defenders of the border and the residents of Sikkim can rely on a resilient, high-tech network that functions even in the most extreme environmental conditions.
