Indian Army Hosts Iftar Meet in Banihal to Foster Communal Harmony and Peace

RAMBAN, MARCH 08: In a vibrant gesture of goodwill and regional solidarity, the Indian Army organized a grand Iftar gathering for the local residents of Banihal to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan.

The event brought together approximately 200 participants, including prominent community elders, religious leaders, local youth, members of the civil society, media personnel, and senior officials from the civil administration.

Army representatives from the Banihal camp extended warm Ramadan greetings to the attendees, emphasizing that such gatherings are vital for maintaining the spirit of brotherhood and strengthening the enduring bond between the armed forces and the local population.

During the interaction, Colonel Sanjay Kumar Poonia, Commanding Officer of the 12 Rashtriya Rifles, highlighted the profound spiritual significance of Ramadan and noted that the Iftar was organized as a token of respect for the people of Banihal.

He commended the region for its peaceful atmosphere and shared future plans to empower local youth, specifically mentioning upcoming initiatives designed to encourage girls’ participation in sports and educational fields.

By providing these platforms, the Army aims to help the younger generation achieve success and contribute to the area’s growth. Local religious figures and community members expressed their deep appreciation for the initiative, thanking the Indian Army for its consistent efforts in ensuring security and promoting a sense of normalcy and unity across the district.
