Indian Army Future-Ready: Southern Command Chief Reviews Advanced Agniveer Drone Training at Sagar

SAGAR, February 26, 2026 — Marking a significant milestone in the Indian Army’s “Decade of Transformation,” Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command, conducted a high-level review of the Mahar Regimental Centre (MRC) in Sagar.

The visit focused on the evolution of military pedagogy, specifically the infrastructure enhancements designed to provide Agniveers with rigorous, contemporary training.

During the briefing, the Army Commander emphasized that the core programs at the Centre are being meticulously aligned with the demands of modern, high-tech warfare, ensuring that the next generation of soldiers is both physically elite and technologically adept.

A key highlight of the visit was the General’s inspection of the Advanced Drone Training capsule, where he interacted directly with Agniveers demonstrating high levels of proficiency in unmanned aerial systems.

Commending the Mahar Regimental Centre for its aggressive push toward Tech Absorption, Lt Gen Seth lauded the seamless integration of drone operations with traditional soldierly ethos.

By reviewing state-of-the-art instructional systems, the Army Commander reaffirmed the Southern Command’s commitment to building a Tech-Enabled and Future-Ready force.

He noted that the combination of clinical battlefield mastery and advanced technological skills is essential for navigating the complexities of the evolving security landscape, further solidifying the Indian Army’s position as a modern global power.
