URI, Jan 20, 2026 — In a significant move to tackle unemployment in the border regions of North Kashmir, the Indian Army’s Bajrang Battalion, under the aegis of the Kalapahar Brigade, with the support of Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) hosted a massive Job Fair, ‘Rozgaar Mela’, at the Chinar Nau Jawan Club in Uri.

Organized in collaboration with the REACHA Foundation, the event was specifically designed to provide a platform for educated unemployed youth, ex-servicemen, and their families from across Uri Tehsil. By bridging the gap between local talent and the corporate world, the initiative aimed to create sustainable career pathways for those living in geographically remote areas near the Line of Control.

The fair saw participation from fifteen prominent companies spanning diverse sectors, including Information Technology (IT), hospitality, finance, and manufacturing. These recruiters offered on-the-spot career guidance and shared details regarding current and upcoming job openings, allowing participants to align their skills with market demands.

Beyond direct hiring, the Rozgaar Mela served as a hub for awareness, educating the local population about various government and private sector employment schemes while providing a dedicated space for attendees to address grievances related to veteran services and skill development.

The local community, particularly the youth and ex-servicemen, expressed profound gratitude to the Indian Army for its proactive role in community building. Residents noted that such initiatives significantly strengthen the bond between the “Jawan and Awaam” (Soldier and People).

Encouraged by the high turnout and the quality of opportunities presented, many participants urged the authorities to make these recruitment drives a regular feature.

The Army reaffirmed its commitment to the socio-economic upliftment of border populations, ensuring that the youth of Uri are not left behind in India’s growing economic landscape.
