Indian Army Confirms Elimination of Foreign Terrorist in Kathua; Joint Operation Success Ahead of Republic Day
KATHUA, Jan 23, 2026 — The Indian Army’s Rising Star Corps has officially confirmed the elimination of a foreign terrorist during a high-precision joint operation in the Parhetar area of Kathua district.
Acting on actionable intelligence, the coordinated strike by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) marks a major security achievement as the region enters a state of high alert for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.
The operation was launched in the early hours of Friday after security forces cordoned off the general area of Parhetar following reports of suspicious movement.
Upon establishing contact, the joint team engaged the insurgent in a brief but intense firefight, successfully neutralizing the threat.
This follows a statement from IGP Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti, who also confirmed that the neutralized individual was a Pakistani operative associated with the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror outfit.
The Rising Star Corps stated on X (formerly Twitter) that the area is currently being sanitized, and search operations are continuing to rule out the presence of any further accomplices. This successful mission is being hailed as a critical blow to cross-border infiltration attempts aimed at disturbing the peace in the Jammu sector.
