Indian Army Celebrates 42nd Siachen Day: Tributes Paid to Guardians of the Frozen Frontier

LEH, LADAKH April 13,2026 — On the occasion of the 42nd Siachen Day, Lieutenant General Hitesh Bhalla, GOC of the Fire and Fury Corps,joined all ranks in paying solemn tribute to the “Bravehearts” who steadfastly guard the world’s highest battlefield.

Observed annually on April 13, Siachen Day commemorates the success of Operation Meghdoot, launched by the Indian Army in 1984 to secure the strategically vital Siachen Glacier.

Amidst some of the harshest terrain and most extreme weather conditions on the planet, the troops continue to demonstrate exemplary professionalism, courage, and an unwavering commitment to national sovereignty.

To mark the anniversary, a poignant wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Siachen War Memorial to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

The day’s events also included visits from senior military officers and veterans to the base camp, where they interacted with the deployed troops.

These interactions served to reaffirm the deep-rooted solidarity within the military ranks and highlighted the nation’s enduring respect for the soldiers who maintain a constant vigil over India’s frozen frontiers.
