India Dispatches 30 Tonnes of Humanitarian Aid to Cyclone-Hit Madagascar via IAF C-17

ANTANANARIVO, MADAGASCAR – March 11, 2026: Demonstrating its commitment to regional stability and disaster response, India has officially dispatched a major humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) consignment to support the people of Madagascar following the catastrophic impact of Tropical Cyclones Fytia and Gezani.

An Indian Air Force C-17 Globemaster aircraft landed in the capital city of Antananarivo today, carrying a total of 30 tonnes of essential supplies aimed at bolstering ongoing recovery efforts across the island nation.

This critical shipment includes 12 tonnes of life-saving medical aid and surgical supplies, alongside 18 tonnes of general disaster relief materials such as durable tents, water storage tanks, dignity kits, and ready-to-eat meals to provide immediate sustenance to displaced communities.

This mission underscores India’s role as a “first responder” in the Indian Ocean Region, standing in firm solidarity with Madagascar during this period of widespread environmental devastation. By providing these specialized resources, the Indian government aims to address the urgent healthcare needs and logistical challenges faced by local authorities in the hardest-hit provinces.

The arrival of the C-17 signifies a deep diplomatic bond between the two nations, ensuring that the most vulnerable populations receive the necessary tools to rebuild and recover from the back-to-back tropical storms that have characterized the early months of this year.
