IGP Kashmir V.K. Birdi Reviews Baramulla Crime Scenario; Calls for Zero Tolerance Against Drug Trafficking

BARAMULLA, DECEMBER 23, 2025: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V.K. Birdi (IPS), chaired a comprehensive crime review meeting today to assess the 2025 crime scenario and control measures within the Baramulla district.

Attended by senior officers, including the DIG NKR and the SSPs of Baramulla, Sopore, and Handwara, the session evaluated crime trends, detection rates, and preventive policing initiatives across various police stations.

During the deliberations, IGP Birdi emphasized the necessity of intelligence-led and proactive policing, directing officers to maintain strict supervision over habitual offenders and ensure professional investigations. Highlighting a zero-tolerance policy toward the drug menace, he instructed intensified enforcement and awareness campaigns to curb trafficking.

The meeting reaffirmed the Jammu & Kashmir Police’s dedication to strengthening crime control mechanisms and fostering public safety and confidence throughout the region.
