SRINAGAR, J&K | January 9, 2026 — Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi, conducted an extensive interaction with 29 probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) from the 2024 batch at the Police Control Room Kashmir, marking a critical phase in their practical field training.
Accompanied by senior officers including the DIG Central Kashmir Range and SSP PCR Kashmir, the IGP congratulated the new officers while emphasizing that the core pillars of their service must remain rooted in integrity, fairness, accountability, and strict discipline. During the session, Birdi highlighted the multifaceted responsibilities of the DySP rank—ranging from tactical operations and law and order management to administrative supervision—and stressed the necessity of mastering professional investigation techniques, particularly under specialized legal frameworks like the UAPA and NDPS Act.
The probationers were urged to leverage information technology, maintain meticulous documentation such as FIR drafting and register maintenance, and balance firm enforcement with a compassionate, problem-solving approach toward the public.
Concluding the session with an advisory on ethical conduct and responsible social media usage, the IGP encouraged the officers to continually consult legal manuals and official instructions to enhance their professional competence as they uphold the traditions of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
