GANGTOK, Feb 10, 2026 — In a strategic initiative to bridge the gap between civil administration and national defense, 41 IAS Officer Trainees from the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) recently concluded a week-long forward area attachment with the Trishakti Corps in Sikkim.
This military familiarization program is designed to provide future administrators with a profound understanding of the operational challenges and the rigorous lifestyle maintained by the Indian Army in some of the world’s most inhospitable terrains.
During their attachment, the trainee officers visited several high-altitude locations of immense strategic and historical importance, including Nathu La, the Baba Harbhajan Singh Shrine, and the Ganju Lama War Memorial.
By trekking to the forward posts and interacting directly with the troops, the officers gained firsthand insight into the complexities of border management and the unwavering resilience required to serve at the frontier.
The tour also included stops at the Bardang Prernasthal and Tsomgo Lake, offering a comprehensive view of the logistical and environmental hurdles faced in the North Sikkim sector.
This collaborative engagement underscores the importance of Military-Civil Synergy in ensuring holistic national security. By experiencing the “Army Life” at the grassroots level, these future policy-makers are better equipped to integrate defense requirements with civil governance.
The attachment serves as a cornerstone for fostering mutual respect and effective coordination between the administrative machinery and the armed forces, ensuring a unified approach toward safeguarding India’s territorial integrity.
