Horticulture Department Jammu organises Farmers’ awareness camp at village Battal- Udhampur

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 17: Horticulture Department Jammu today organized a farmers’ awareness camp at village Battal- Udhampur to mark the launch of fortnight long Sewa Parv campaign.

Director Horticulture Jammu Gul Syed was the chief guest.Interacting with the participants, the Director encouraged the farmers to plant high density fruit trees for which the government offers attractive incentive under UT as well as central schemes such as CAPEX, HADP, PMDC, JKCIP etc.He also informed the farmers about the lucrative returns on Value-added agro products and said “We have a well established unit of Canning/kraft center at Chief Horticulture Office Udhampur where they can get training for making different kind of value-added products like Jam, Jellies, Pickles, Candies etc.”

More than 150 farmers including women besides former Sarpanch and Panches of the area attended the camp.Chief Horticulture Officer Udhampur Brij Vallabh Gupta also briefed the participants about various Departmental schemes and encouraged them to avail the benefits of the same.

DDM – NABARD Dr. Sidharth; Block Programme Manager NRLM Aisha Bandral; VAS Dr. Pooja Dogra; Anil Kumar from Agriculture department and Rohit Kumar from JK Bank also acquainted the farmers about the schemes of their departments. On the sidelines, eight farmers were enrolled for Pradhan Mantri Surksha Bima Yojna and one for Attal pension Yojna.
