UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 21: The three-day historic Sankri Devta Mela, which commenced on August 19, 2025, at Block Panchari in District Udhampur, successfully concluded, witnessing overwhelming participation of more than 30,000 devotees and visitors. Pilgrims from across the Union Territory thronged the mela site to pay obeisance at the Sankri Devta Temple and seek the divine blessings of the deity.
The concluding ceremony was attended by DIG Udhampur–Reasi Range, Sarah Rizvi, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, SSP Udhampur, Amod Ashok Nagpure, DDC Member Jasvir Singh, DDC Narsoo, Subash Chander; IAS Probationer, Seerat Baji, Mela Officer, Tehsildar Panchari, Vipan Kumar, along with other officers, prominent civil society members and local residents. They paid their respects at the holy shrine of Sankri Devta.
While addressing the gathering, the DC congratulated the people on the successful organization of the event. She emphasized that such melas play a vital role in preserving cultural heritage, fostering brotherhood and spreading the message of peace and prosperity. She further underlined the importance of safeguarding the rich traditions of the region, calling these fairs an indispensable part of local culture.
The district administration had made elaborate arrangements for security, drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, Medicare facilities, traffic regulation and other essential services to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the mela.Adding to the festive spirit, renowned artists, local performers, students of various educational institutions and folk artists from adjoining areas presented traditional performances and theme-based skits, which received immense appreciation from the audience.
Various departmental stalls, sweet shops, toy stalls and food outlets, set up by local as well as outside vendors were a major attraction for the visiting devotees and tourists.
