High Court of J&K and Ladakh Holds Full Court Reference to Bid Farewell to Justice Javed Iqbal Wani

SRINAGAR, March 23, 2026 — A solemn Full Court Reference was held today at the Srinagar Wing of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh to honor Justice Javed Iqbal Wani upon his superannuation.

Presided over by Chief Justice Arun Palli, the event was attended by a distinguished gathering of brother and sister Judges, including Justice Sanjeev Kumar and Justice Sindhu Sharma, along with former Chief Justices, senior administrative and police officials, and members of the legal fraternity.

The proceedings, conducted by Registrar General M. K. Sharma, followed the high court’s long-standing traditions, celebrating a judicial career marked by discipline, academic excellence, and a steadfast commitment to the rule of law.

During the Reference, Senior Additional Advocate General Mohsin Qadri and Kashmir Advocates Association President Waseem Gull delivered farewell addresses, praising Justice Wani’s judicial acumen and his particular focus on ensuring justice for the marginalized.

Chief Justice Arun Palli highlighted Justice Wani’s balanced temperament and professional integrity, noting the respect he earned across the Bar and Bench alike.

In a poignant response, Justice Wani expressed his deep gratitude to the registry, his personal staff, and the advocates of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, emphasizing that the effective dispensation of justice relies on the harmonious cooperation between the legal community and the judiciary.

The ceremony concluded with a traditional Guard of Honor, marking the end of a meritorious tenure dedicated to constitutional values.
