K9 Tyson Survives Bullet Wound After Leading Elite Force Strike in Kishtwar

JAMMU, Feb 23, 2026 — In a display of extraordinary bravery that has captured the nation’s heart, Tyson, an elite German Shepherd K9 with the elite Special Forces (SF), is recovering after sustaining a bullet wound during a high-stakes counter-terrorism operation in Jammu & Kashmir.

During the intense engagement in the rugged terrain of Kishtwar, Tyson was the first to charge into a fortified terrorist hideout to detect enemy presence. Despite being hit by gunfire, the courageous K9 never faltered, providing the critical opening that allowed elite paratroopers to neutralize three hardcore terrorists, including the notorious commander Saifullah.

Tyson’s indomitable spirit is a product of world-class training at the CRPF’s Dog Breeding & Training School (DBTS) in Taralu, Karnataka, where he was schooled from February to December 2022. Following the encounter, the “true Indian hero” was swiftly airlifted to a specialized veterinary facility where he is currently reported to be in stable condition.

The CRPF and White Knight Corps have lauded Tyson’s grit as a testament to the specialized K9 schooling that remains a force multiplier in hostile weather and challenging terrain.

As the security forces celebrate the successful conclusion of the mission, the entire nation joins in wishing a speedy recovery to this four-legged warrior whose valor saved human lives on the frontlines.
